Volunteer Spotlight: Sam Rickerd

Updated: Apr 25, 2018

Sam Rickerd is a junior at Whitko High School and has been involved with One Community activities for a few years serving as a mentor for the first time this school year. He is the son of Mark and Sarah Rickerd and has three (3) siblings, William, Kate and Ellie.

Sam is involved in the theater program, National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Student Council, IPFW's SciTec Academy and the Whitko Chamber Ensemble Choir.  When he's not busy at school, he enjoys repairing computers and playing golf.

Sam plans to attend Purdue School of Engineering with a major in Computer Engineering and a minor in Political Science. He would love to start a tech company in our community in the future.

Sam says, "The thing I like best about being a mentor is spending time with Wyatt and enjoying his positive and energetic personality every week. It is so easy to become stressed and worn out from school work, so a thorough "dash" of fun and games with Wyatt always brightens my day!"

Thanks Sam for being a great role model and changing the lives of those around you! We are so happy to have you as an important part of the mentoring program.
